Daniel had landed in foreign soil.
Heathen would him in their toils embroil.
Temptations came to deny the Lord.
”Do what we tell you!” their voices roared.
We too seem sunk in a world of sin.
We can’t escape all its sordid din.
At work or school the incessant cry:
“Join us, ‘tis nought if you God deny!”
Daniel had purposed he would not yield.
To their attractions his soul was steeled.
Thus he said No when the call was made.
Daniel determined, and faithful stayed.
Have you too purposed to not deny
Christ, though the battle is raging high?
Child of the kingdom, like Daniel say,
“I will not yield to the tempter’s sway.”
