Don’t Push Me from the Nest

Don’t push me from the nest
Where all is safe and sound,
For then I’ll plummet
Towards the hard, stone ground.

I’ll dash against the rocks.
I’ll be a crumpled mess,
And thus I cling and hold,
Refusing Thy request.

I feel a rush of wind,
As from the nest I fall,
Tremulously trusting
That Thou would’st hear my call.

Thy mighty wings outspread
Beneath this weak fledgling,
Thus the fragile rises;
Soars; begins to sing.
