Richard Wurmbrand 1909 - 2001 “The voice of the underground church” Romanian preacher Richard Wurmbrand was tortured for his faith under communism. After two prison sentences Richard Wurmbrand was ransomed for $10,000 in 1964. He lived a while in Norway and England then moved to the United States where he wrote more than 18 books including his own testimony, _Tortured for Christ_. Richard Wurmbrand founded Voice of the Martyrs, an organization which supports people who are persecuted for their faith.
